District launching Parent Advocacy Group

The North Syracuse Central School District is proud to be launching a new family engagement initiative, in conjunction with the Syracuse University Parent Assistance Center (SUPAC), this fall. The district will begin a Parent Advocacy Group (PAG) for the purpose of providing parents of children with disabilities the opportunity to collaborate with each other and the school district to build trust, cultivate relationships and gain a shared understanding of the special education process and individual needs.

The group will offer morning and evening sessions around a variety of topics related to the special education process. Input will be solicited during a round-table discussion scheduled for January 22, 2019.

North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent of Schools Annette Speach is excited to bring the initiative to the district. She said, “This group will be instrumental as we work together toward Vision2020. As our mission states, ‘we will work collaboratively to ensure a respectful and diversified learning environment’ for all students. Without a doubt, this group will help us achieve that mission.”
