French Students Experience the World Firsthand in Paris
April 22, 2026By Jessica Keane
| This spring, current high school students enrolled in French had the opportunity to take part in an unforgettable field trip to Paris. Accompanied by their teachers, Madame Keane and Madame Brown, students spent their time fully immersed in the language and culture they have been studying in the classroom. When asked to describe the experience in one word, students shared responses such as “thrilling,” “altering,” and “dream.” Experiences like this allow students to interact firsthand with the culture they study, bringing their learning to life in meaningful and lasting ways. |

| Opportunities like this are more important than ever for today’s students. In an increasingly interconnected world, travel helps young people step outside of their comfort zones while building independence, adaptability, and global awareness. During their time in France, students practiced their French in authentic, real-world situations and developed a deeper appreciation for diverse perspectives, customs, and ways of life—lessons that extend far beyond what can be taught within classroom walls. Throughout the trip, students fully immersed themselves in Parisian life. They navigated the city using the Paris Metro, strengthening their confidence and real-world problem-solving skills. They participated in a friendly game of pétanque with a local, creating a genuine cultural exchange moment. Students also enjoyed a scenic boat cruise along the Seine River, taking in breathtaking views of the city from a new perspective. The group explored some of Paris’s most iconic and culturally rich locations. At Notre Dame Cathedral, students observed the remarkable Gothic architecture and ongoing restoration efforts. At the Louvre Museum, they encountered world-famous works of art, including the Mona Lisa. A visit to the Eiffel Tower offered stunning panoramic views of the city and a true sense of its scale and beauty. Beyond the city center, students visited the Palace of Versailles, where they toured the opulent palace and spent a relaxing afternoon exploring its expansive, meticulously designed gardens. They also visited Père Lachaise Cemetery, the final resting place of many notable figures, offering a unique glimpse into French history and culture. At the Château de Vincennes, students explored one of the best-preserved medieval castles in France, complete with its impressive keep and historic grounds. Another highlight was the Opéra Garnier, where students admired the grand architecture and learned about its rich artistic history. Of course, no trip to France would be complete without experiencing its world-renowned cuisine. Students had the opportunity to try authentic French dishes such as quiche lorraine, boeuf bourguignon, and freshly made crêpes. These meals not only delighted their taste buds but also offered another meaningful way to connect with the culture. For many students, this trip was truly special—several described it as a “dream come true.” Experiences like this leave a lasting impact. Beyond growing as language learners, our students returned home with new confidence, broader perspectives, and memories that will stay with them for years to come. We look forward to continuing to provide opportunities that inspire curiosity, connection, and a deeper understanding of the world. |
