Two NSCSD students honored with OCM BOCES Tools for Success Awards

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, two Cicero-North Syracuse High School students were among those honored during the OCM BOCES Tools for Success 2025 awards ceremony.
Pictured left: CNS senior Jack Connelly was honored by OCM BOCES Auto Collision instructor Erick Dodge, who teaches in a business-embedded classroom at Driver's Village.  Jack received a Snap-on ratcheting hard-handled screwdriver and plans to work in the automotive field after high school. He's currently working at Burdick Dodge in Driver's Village. "Jack is, in a word, dedicated," Dodge said. "He consistently completes his work on time and to a high standard of effectiveness. Additionally, he actively seeks out opportunities to expand his knowledge and skills, and is always open to taking on additional projects and challenges."
Pictured right: CNS senior Mallory Wessels was honored by OCM BOCES culinary instructor Bob Canorro. Wessels received a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship from Nancy Chappell, an OCM BOCES Adult Education dental assisting instructor who co-founded "Two Chefs from Above," a nonprofit created after her son, Stephen, and another young man were killed in 2018 during a robbery while they were working at a Chili's restaurant in DeWitt. "Mallory is a highly focused and mature student with a real talent and desire for baking and pastry arts," Canorro said. Mallory plans to attend Canorro's alma mater, the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.
