NSCSD delivers Thanksgiving cheer with Meals on Wheels partnership
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the North Syracuse Central School District (NSCSD) made a “sweet” contribution to the North Area Meals on Wheels program hoping to enhance Thanksgiving meals for some special community members. John Rice, NSCSD’s Director of Instructional Support for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Science, delivered more than 40 homemade pumpkin pies to North Area Meals on Wheels. District administrators joined forces to fund the initiative, each contributing $15 to support the effort. These funds were used to purchase supplies for more than 40 homemade pumpkin pies, which will accompany the Thanksgiving meals delivered to Meals on Wheels clients. |

The initiative brought together staff, students and classrooms in a true collaboration to help the community. After receiving the supplies, Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teachers Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Fassett led their students in mixing, baking and packaging the pies. The pies weren’t the only treats though—students in Pam Woznica’s FACS classes created candy favors decorated with festive turkey designs. Meanwhile, classes led by Ms. D’Imperio and Mrs. Frisbie crafted handmade Thanksgiving cards to accompany the meals. This collaborative project showcases NSCSD’s commitment to serving its community and providing students with meaningful, real-world learning opportunities. From baking pies to crafting decorations and cards, every element of this initiative reflects the spirit of giving. |
