CNS Optimist Club Oratorical Contest winners

The Optimist Club of Cicero-North Syracuse has announced the winners of this year’s Oratorical Contest. Six contestants entered this year’s competition with and gave speeches on “How to Change the World with Optimism.”

With a top award of a $2,500 college scholarship, all students under the age of 19 who live within the boundaries of the North Syracuse Central School District were eligible to participate. Contestants were asked to speak on the official topic for four to five minutes with timing beginning at the first spoken word.
This year’s winners are:
  • Gold medal: CNS senior Isabella Borte (middle)
  • Silver medal: CNS sophomore Liam Byrne (right)
  • Bronze medal: CNS senior Haneefa Wahab (left)
Isabella and Liam also represented the club in the New York / New England District Contest on April 27 in New Hartford and all three top contestants will deliver their speeches at the May 13 NSCSD Board of Education meeting! Congratulations to all students for their outstanding participation! The Optimist Club of Cicero-North Syracuse is pleased to once again be able to offer this excellent program to interested students of our community.
Other NSCSD students who took part in the Oratorical Contest were: Abby Baker (6th grade), Urguen Tamang (senior) and Drew Errante (junior).

Congratulations to all our students!
