Math marvels make waves in March!
The North Syracuse Central School District’s Mathematics Department recently shared some exciting highlights from district events that took place during the month of March! Mathematics Director Nick Scholz shares that students have been showcasing their exceptional talents and dedication, leaving an indelible mark in various regional and national competitions.Middle School Math League (Grades 6-8)
On Tuesday, March 5th, Gillette Road Middle School hosted the regional Math League Competition. Drawing competition from 22 different schools in the area, our three North Syracuse teams displayed exemplary performance, all securing places in the top 10. North Syracuse Junior High claimed a well-deserved 3rd place, while Gillette Road Middle School tied for 5th place and Roxboro Road Middle School secured 8th place.
In the individual competition, we witnessed stellar achievements as Solomon Stearns (NSJH) tied for 2nd place overall. Additionally, our 6th-grade students swept the top four places, with Louis McLaughlin (GRMS), Owen Murphy (GRMS), Caiden Gaff (RRMS), and Owen Boyles (GRMS) all clinching top honors.

MathCON (Grades 4-7)
Moreover, during the week of March 4th, over 400 students from eight different schools took part in the national mathematics assessment known as MathCON. This online assessment featured challenging problems, testing students' skills across multiple grade levels. We are immensely proud of our students' perseverance and grit throughout the assessment, a testament to their dedication to excellence in mathematics. Special thanks to our devoted teachers who have been tirelessly preparing our students for the past 2-3 months.
