Winners chosen in CNS Optimist Club essay contest

The Optimist Club of Cicero-North Syracuse has selected its winners for this year’s essay contest, the theme of which was, “Optimism: How it Connects Us.”
 
This year’s medalists are:
1st place: CNS senior Aria Van Dreason
2nd place: CNS junior Ethan Turner
3rd place: CNS sophomore Ivan Lin

As the first-place winner, Aria’s essay now moves forward to the New England / New York Optimist District for consideration in the larger contest where she has the opportunity to win a $2,500 scholarship.
Robert Crabtree is a current member and past president of the Optimist Club of CNS and had the opportunity to review this year’s entries. Of those he reviewed, he said, “This year’s essays were exceptional and a pleasure to read. Our judges enjoyed them very much and the scores were so close because they were all so good. Our students did such a great job and should be very proud of their work.”
 
In addition to the three winners, this year’s participants also included: senior Isabella Borte, junior Brianna Craven, senior Gianna DelConte, junior Jackson Dufort, junior Azariyah Fernandez, senior John Lisi III, senior Haley Swenton and junior Audrey Zellar.
