NSCSD students receive recognition for summer reading

Congratulations to this year’s New York State Assembly Summer Reading Challenge winners from the North Syracuse Central School District. A total of 14 students from various elementary schools in the NSCSD completed the requirements of the Challenge (reading for a minimum of 15 minutes each day for at least 40 days in the months of July and August) and were eligible to receive certificates.

New York State Assemblyman Al Stirpe attended the NSCSD Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 10 to personally present certificates to this year’s winners. While not all recipients were able to attend the meeting, Assemblyman Stirpe gave award certificates to several very proud students and their families.
At the meeting, the assemblyman thanked the district, students and parents for their consistent participation in the annual event. “I want to thank the North Syracuse Central School District for participating to the level they do every year,” he said. “I must say, I don’t know how long I’ve been doing this, at least 10 or 12 years but I think North Syracuse has the most participants every year. Congratulations and thank you!”

Students from the North Syracuse Central School District recognized in this year’s reading challenge included: second grader Ezra Aleksic from Lakeshore Road Elementary School, second grader Lucas Battista from Allen Road Elementary School, first grader Eloise Dickson from Allen Road Elementary School, fourth grader Job Dickson from Allen Road Elementary School, fourth grader Ella Kittle from Allen Road Elementary School, second grader Avery Kasper from Cicero Elementary School, third grader Thomas Kerry from Cicero Elementary School, fourth grader Zoey McKay from KWS Bear Road Elementary School, first grader Xavian Moore from KWS Bear Road Elementary School, second grader Sophia Swanson from Allen Road Elementary School, kindergartener Anna Tees from Cicero Elementary School, second grader Nora Tees from Cicero Elementary School, second grader Andrew White from Cicero Elementary School and fourth grader Johnathan White from Cicero Elementary School.
