Cicero Elementary School Kindergarteners Celebrate Reading

This week kindergarten students at Cicero Elementary School celebrated their reading success with a grade-level “Nursery Rhyme Celebration” at the school.

Students in Mrs. Radecki’s, Mrs. Koehler’s, Mrs. Norris’s, Mrs. Rosen’s and Mrs. Smith's classes enthusiastically demonstrated their mastery of nursery rhymes by "acting out" different rhymes to other kindergarten classes.

Mrs. Radecki's students performed "Little Miss Muffett" while wearing spider hats or "eating" their curds and whey and "Little Boy Blue" donning cow and sheep masks that the students had made.

Mrs. Koehler's students recited "Rain Rain Go Away" wearing colorful umbrella hats and "Hickory Dickory Dock" vocalizing clock sounds, and using mice on sticks and a handmade clock.

Mrs. Norris' students used their class time ahead of the event to create star wands and then used them to enhance their performances of "Star Light, Star Bright" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

Mrs. Rosen's students acted out "This Little Piggy" while wearing pig noses they created out of egg cartons and string and "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe" as the end of the celebration.

Mrs. Smith's class recited "Roses are Red" and "Ring Around the Rosy."

The students did a wonderful job listening to their peers and waiting to do their own presentations.
