NSCSD Moving to ParentSquare to Unify Communications

August, 2022: The North Syracuse Central School District is moving to a new communication platform called ParentSquare. ParentSquare is a unified app for school communication so parents and guardians can receive all announcements from the District, their children’s schools and teachers in one place, with options to specify how and when parents/guardians are notified.

On August 4, an email invitation was sent to parents to activate their ParentSquare account. Those who do not register will still receive text, email, and phone notifications. Parents who do create an account can interact by viewing photos, downloading attachments, leaving comments, messaging teachers, signing permission slips and managing their communication settings and preferences.

Parents with students currently enrolled in the NSCSD should automatically receive ParentSquare messages. If you have a child in the District and you are not receiving messages, please contact our Communications Office at (315) 218-2190 or send an email to Laurie Cook, our School Information Officer at lcook@nscsd.org. 

PLEASE NOTE: ParentSquare does not replace the phone calls, e-mails and text messages that have been sent to families in the past. ParentSquare enhances that communication by allowing parents to log into their ParentSquare account online or download the ParentSquare App so they can see all messages sent in one centralized location. This will help us eliminate the issue of missing messages that may be caught up in e-mail spam filters.

By unifying multiple tools into one communications app and service, ParentSquare provides a seamless experience for parents and staff. Parents will be able to keep track of news, activities and events from all their children’s schools in one place.

The District hopes that ParentSquare’s intuitive, two-way platform will foster greater communication and family involvement. With ParentSquare, parents can enjoy photos posted by teachers, fill out forms and permission slips, sign up for parent-teacher conferences and much more. School staff and parents can engage in both one-to-one and group messaging with real-time language translation.
