C-NS Music Students to Participate in Area All State at Ithaca College

Each year, the New York State School Music Association (known informally as NYSSMA) hosts an Area All-State festival for high school band, orchestra, and choral students. The festivals afford students the opportunity to participate in advanced ensembles outside of their high schools. This year’s festival will take place on February 4 and 5 at Ithaca College and C-NS is honored to have several students selected for participation.

The process by which students are selected to participate in All-State is a comprehensive and rigorous one. In the spring prior to the festival, high school students give solo performances in order to qualify for potential inclusion. Then, in the fall prior to the festival, students must by nominated by their music teacher. After their individual performances and teacher recommendations, all nominees are reviewed by a selection committee and considered for participation in ensembles that include Mixed Choir, Treble Choir, Band, and Orchestra.

The C-NS Music Department staff has the distinct pleasure and honor to recognize the following students that qualified for this year’s Area All-State Festival: Emily Bradley (junior), Jaden Britton (senior), Abigail Calabria (junior), Lauren Coleman (senior), Erinn Cosgrove (junior), Haleigh Demperio (senior), Shea Mastracco (senior), Mikey Mousaw (senior), Maddie Rodoski (junior) and Katie Wilhite (senior).

Congratulations to these talented musicians!
