Smith Road Students Participate in #WhatLiftsYou Global Campaign

Elementary art students at Smith Road Elementary School recently learned about the work of illustrator and artist Kelsey Montague. Montague is the founder of the #WhatLiftsYou global campaign and an artist known for creating large scale, interactive street murals around the world in which people step into the work and become a living work of art.  After learning about the atist,  students in Carolyn Mowers' art classes took time to create their own works of art to participate in the campaign as a school community. Mowers said, "My students each completed a feather for the wings using the Elements  of  Art: Line, Shape and Color to complete the collaboration mural." Once the creation had been prepared and was in place in the school's hallway, students took turns stepping into the creation to become their own living work of art.
