NSCSD Students Participate in "Chalk the Walk & Have a Talk"

During the week of Sept. 20-24, all 11 schools in the North Syracuse Central School District participated in the “Chalk the Walk & Have the Talk” activity through the Onondaga County Suicide Prevention Coalition.  During this activity students were encouraged to get outside and chalk the sidewalks with messages of hope, inspiration, and resilience to shine a light on mental wellness and suicide prevention.

The North Syracuse Central School District is committed to the mental health and wellness of all of our students and is excited to participate in awareness activities that promote the mental wellbeing of our students in grades Pre-K through 12.
Kristen Stanton, the NSCSD School Based Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator stated that she is looking to provide district wide mental health and wellness activities throughout the year that will be modified as needed so that they are developmentally appropriate at each grade level.  Stanton believes that it is important to discuss mental health from an early age because the more we talk about mental health, the more we can normalize it and destigmatize reaching out for help.
