2021-2022 School Year Information

As the North Syracuse Central School District prepares for the 2021-2022 school year while awaiting official guidance regarding reopening, it will be providing weekly updates to staff and families.

The New York State Education Department has recommended schools follow the recently released CDC guidance on re-opening schools. We will be drawing heavily from this document as we move forward. Click here to access the District's COVID-19 website.

OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION - As we begin our first full week of school with five days of in-person instruction, I wanted to communicate with you about plans for open house events. Together, we have worked very hard to safely offer in-person instruction and allow extracurricular activities. Our goal is to preserve those offerings. Therefore, the decision has been made to have all open houses held virtually this year. This was not an easy decision to make but we must continue to be proactive in our efforts to preserve in-person instruction five days a week.

We are excited to announce that NSCSD students will be returning to school for in-person instruction five days a week for the 2021-2022 school year. While we are still waiting for official guidance from our local Department of Health, based on current CDC guidance, we anticipate that masks will be worn at school while indoors. It is imperative for our students' academic success and social and emotional well-being that students attend regular in-person instruction.

Only students with a signed physician statement indicating that they cannot return to in-person school due to a documented, pre-existing medical condition will qualify for remote instruction.

Remote instruction will be provided by New York State certified teachers employed by OCM BOCES. Students will be placed in the remote learning program for the entirety of the 2021-2022 school year. Physician statements must be signed, dated and sent to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Christopher R. Leahey, by the end of the day on August 24, 2021.

Questions regarding remote instruction may be directed to the Associate Superintendent at 315-218-2148 or by email to cleahey@nscsd.org.
