C-NS Graduate Madison King Awarded CNY STEM Scholarship

Cicero-North Syracuse High School Class of 2021 graduate Madison King has been named a CNY STEM Scholar in the Partners for Education & Business, Inc. (PEB) 2021 CNY STEM Scholarship Program. Madison is one of only three students in Central New York to receive this recognition and a $20,000 scholarship from SRC.

Madison, ranked 4th in the C-NS Class of 2021, will attend the University of Rochester in the fall to major in the field of computer science.

Madison and the other PEB scholarship winners were announced at organization’s Annual Awards virtual celebration which was held virtually on June 23.  That video is available on YouTube by clicking here or on MACNY’s website at www.macny.org.

According to the event program, “Madison is described as a leader in the classroom, a confident, bright and outgoing young woman; a well-rounded student, and active member of her community. Madison is a member of the National Honor Society, Girls Who Code, the Positivity Project and the Class of 2021 Executive Board. She is also an excellent dancer and a Master Scuba Diver. Madison has won several awards, among them the RIT Creativity and Innovation Award and has been awarded the National Center for Women in Technology Aspirations in Computing Award for the Upstate New York affiliate twice. The CNY STEM Scholarship Program, administered by PEB and the CNY STEM Hub, launched in 2013 to support high school seniors who plan to pursue a college degree in a field related to STEM. Since its inception, local employers have now awarded 65 scholarships, valued at $706,000 through this CNY STEM Scholarship Program.  Some of those original scholarship recipients are now working at the local companies that sponsored their education.

These student winners represent the best and brightest in STEM in Central New York from the hundreds of applications submitted from high school seniors in seven counties. Included with the scholarships are guarantees for paid summer internships with the sponsoring companies.
Congratulations to C-NS Graduate Madison King!
