District saddened by passing of Board of Education Member, Erin McDonald

With heavy hearts, the North Syracuse Central School District would like to inform the community of the passing of Erin McDonald, a member of the NSCSD Board of Education. Erin passed away on February 18, 2021.

Ms. McDonald was a graduate of the NSCSD, and served on the Board of Education from July 1, 2017 to the present. During her tenure on the Board, she served as a member of the Board of Education Policy and Legislative Committees, and sat on various administrative interview committees.  Erin was also a member of the Central New York School Boards Association and the New York State School Boards Association. She was a retired public educator from the Pflugerville (Texas) Independent School District and a substitute teacher at Henninger High School. Erin served as a member of the Greater Cicero Community Connections Youth Board and was a youth soccer official for CNYSOA and the local Chapter of USSF (FIFA) soccer. 

Of her passing, North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent of Schools Daniel D. Bowles said, “Erin’s dedication and commitment to the North Syracuse Central School District students, parents, and community will be missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Erin’s family and friends.”
