Four CNY School Districts Come Together for Paige’s Pajamarama

December 2020: Redemption was sought and alliances were formed as the North Syracuse and Liverpool school districts renewed their friendly battle to be named top supporter of Paige’s Butterfly Run, Inc. and Paige’s Pajamarama.

Paige’s Pajamarama is a charity event allowing students to wear their pajamas to school when making a donation to Paige's Butterfly Run, Inc., an organization which supports children with pediatric cancer at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.

In 2019, C-NS students challenged Liverpool High School students to raise more money for Paige’s Pajamarama by creating a challenge video, which went viral. While the 2019 challenge was initially only for the high schools, involvement grew and the event expanded to all schools in both districts. In the end, the schools and districts split victories with Liverpool High School earning the most money for the cause but the North Syracuse Central School District raising the greatest amount overall.

This year the North Syracuse and Liverpool school districts reached out to the West Genesee and Fayetteville-Manlius districts to partner in the competition. The North Syracuse and West Genesee districts teamed up as the Star Alliance and the Liverpool and Fayetteville-Manlius districts came together as the Warrior Alliance.

By coming together, the rival schools and districts raised $22,751.28 in the fight against pediatric cancer and to support programming at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The Star Alliance high school team (C-NS and West Genesee) took the honor of being the winning high school team with a total of $6,860.51 raised, while the Warrior Alliance district team had the largest overall total bringing in $9,186.82 in donations.

Melissa Palmisano, the “competition” organizer for Cicero-North Syracuse High School and the North Syracuse Central School District said, “While our schools and district alliances teams once again split the victories, in the end the kids fighting pediatric cancer at are the real winners. I want to give tremendous thanks everyone in all these communities that came out to support this cause.”

Representatives from the Liverpool, North Syracuse, Fayetteville-Manlius and West Genesee school districts came together at Liverpool High School on Wednesday, December 16 to present their collective donations, totaling more than $22,000 to Paige’s Butterfly Run, Inc. The districts and their high schools came together in a friendly competition to raise the most money by participating in Paige’s Pajamarama.
