On August 24, New York State Governor Cuomo announced that low-risk sports will be allowed to practice and hold athletic competitions as of September 21. The following are considered low-risk sports:
Q1 | Will there be sports and extracurricular activities after school?
A. At this time (as of August 1, 2020) all extracurricular activities and fall sports are postponed. Athletic and extracurricular activities in the NSCSD are prohibited until further guidance from the New York State Governor’s office and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYPSHAA).
Q2 | If I select 100% remote learning will my child be allowed to participate in sports if they are offered during the 2020-2021 school year?
A. At this time, NSCSD will allow students who elect to do remote learning and meet the eligibility criteria to play sports. Parents will have to provide own transportation to practice. We are awaiting further guidance on this from NYSPHAA and this may be revisited once additional guidance becomes available. |
