More Than Sad: Suicide Prevention for Parents Workshop RESCHEDULED for January 22

The North Syracuse Central School District has rescheduled a second "More Than Sad: Suicide Prevention for Parents" workshop and resource night for Wednesday, January 22 at the North Syracuse Junior High School at 6:00 p.m. The presentation, which was originally scheduled in December, had to be postponed due to the cancellation of after school activities.

North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent of Schools Dan Bowles encourages parents and community members to attend saying, “Our district has been terribly shaken by the recent deaths of two students. We take our mission to contribute to our students’ social/emotional development very seriously, and we and encourage our families to come to this presentation and join us as partners in our students' well-being.”

The More Than Sad family of programs has taught over a million students, parents and educators how to be smart about mental health.

Parents will learn how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health problems, initiate a conversation with their child, and get him or her help.

There will be a resource area available for families looking
for additional assistance. Liberty Resources and Contact,
Inc. will be staffing resource tables throughout the evening.
