Visitors to Allen Road Elementary School's Winter Wonderland Learn About Various Cultures, Including Chinese

Visitors to this year's Winter Wonderland at Allen Road Elementary School had a wonderful time celebrating the season and learning about various cultures from around the world. As part of the district's partnership program with the Confucius Institute at Alfred University, several Chinese teachers were at the celebration to give families hands on instruction. They demonstrated Chinese Calligraphy and the folk dance technique of waving fans and handkerchiefs, taught how to make Chinese lanterns and even helped kids try to get Chinese candies and snacks by using chopsticks. Both kids and parents took an active part in the group's activities and enjoyed learning about the culture.
