Cicero-North Syracuse High School varsity and junior varsity girls’ basketball teams help spread holiday cheer
|This year, some basketball players in the North Syracuse Central School District, are helping making the holidays a little brighter for some local families. The school’s girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball teams recently collected hundreds of items for donation to local families in need. The donations will be made through the SSAC (Salt City Athletic Conference.)
C-NS Girls’ varsity coach Eric Smith received the SSAC’s request for donations in November and wanted to help the worthy cause. “We knew we wanted to donate to the SSAC’s holiday adoption project but I thought it would be great to get the teams involved by doing something good for their community. The families went above and beyond with their generous donations.”
The girls and their families responded to the booster club’s call for donations by bringing in more than enough personal care items, coloring books, crayons, games and even clothing, to fill 13 gift baskets! Additionally, the teams will be making a monetary donation to the SSAC through the booster club.
Booster club members met on December 4 to gather and sort the hundreds of donated items and varsity team members met that evening to create individual gift baskets for the families. Many thanks are due to everyone that gave their time, efforts and to all that donated!
