Spelling Bee Competition Winners Advance to Post Standard/WCNY Competition

On Thursday, December 7, forty students from North Syracuse Junior High School, Roxboro Road Middle School and Gillette Road Middle School gathered at the North Syracuse Central School District Administrative Office building to compete in a district-wide spelling bee.
 
The students qualified for the competition after completing written and oral exams within their schools. All students did very well in the spelling bee and the final two competitors, Jacob Garofalo and Joseph DeGroat battled for top honors. In the end, Jacob Garofalo, an 8th grade student at North Syracuse Junior High School, won the competition.
 
The top six competitors from the North Syracuse Central School District spelling bee will advance to The Post Standard/WCNY 2018 Spelling Bee written. Those finalists are:
  • Jacob Garofalo, North Syracuse Junior High School 8th Grade  – 1st Place
  • Joseph DeGroat, Gillette Road Middle School 7th Grade – 2nd Place
  • Gabriel Maravi, North Syracuse Junior High School 8th Grade – 3rd Place
  • Delia Fedele, North Syracuse Junior High School 8th Grade  – 4th Place
  • Natalie Wilk, Gillette Road Middle School 7th Grade –5th Place 
  • Charles French, Jr., North Syracuse Junior High School 8th Grade – 6th Place
