Public Meeting for Lakeshore Road Elementary School Phase I Renovation

The North Syracuse Central School District is getting ready to move forward with voter approved renovations at Lakeshore Road Elementary School. About the Project:
In December 2021, NSCSD voters approved the Structured for Success capital referendum, which included several projects. To support the referendum, the NSCSD Board of Education formed a facilities subcommittee to provide oversight and support to ensure the delivery of quality improvements for the benefit of the community. 

The subcommittee has met periodically since January 2022 and is now recommending that the District seek staff and community involvement to move forward with the approved Phase I renovations at Lakeshore Road Elementary School. In order to begin work at the end of the 2023-24 school year, plans must be submitted to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in December of 2023. 

To support the design development and construction planning efforts, the subcommittee has requested the formation of a supporting committee made up of building staff and community members. The committee will be involved in making critical recommendations regarding the operational, logistics and relocation aspects of the project. Building administrators are working through the school's Building Planning Team (BPT) and Parent Teacher Group (PTG) to identify interested participants.

The District will hold monthly committee meetings at Lakeshore Road Elementary School from April-December. Interested persons should be able to commit to those meetings, which will take place outside of school hours. Options for completing Phase I work will be discussed and the group will be responsible for making recommendations prior to plans being submitted to NYSED. An initial timeline for Structured for Success capital project work at Lakeshore Road Elementary School is:

March 22, 2023: District Officials/Facilities Committee will give initial presentation at Lakeshore Road Elementary School 
March - April 2023: Stakeholder input sought through BPT and PTG representatives
April 11, 2023 at 6 p.m.: Community Information Meeting
April-December 2023: Monthly committee meetings (schedule TBD)
December 2023: Plan submitted to NYSED
May/June 2024: Construction Begins at Lakeshore Road Elementary School
July/August 2025: Work Completed at Lakeshore Road Elementary School
