Students Attend Syracuse Crunch French Night

For more than 10 years the Syracuse Crunch have hosted a French Night. The educational experience is organized in conjunction with the American Association of Teachers of French of Central New York.

Students from 14 schools attended this year’s game, including some CNS junior and high schoolers taking French. The Syracuse Crunch try to host the event while playing a Canadian team. This year’s match was with the Laval Rocket, an affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens based in Quebec.

The experience includes much more than just watching the game though. French vocabulary words were displayed on arena screens, French music was played, and students took part in a trivia competition during intermission.

Following the game, students were invited to meet French speaking players. The Syracuse Crunch have 8 French Canadian players, but this does fluctuate as players are called up to the NHL.
