NSCSD Teams up With Other Local School Districts as C-NS Students Hope for Redemption in Friendly Competition

November, 2020: For the week of November 9-13, students at Cicero-North Syracuse High School (C-NS), along with those from other schools in the North Syracuse Central School District, have been challenged to a friendly competition with other local high schools and districts. Hoping for redemption after their school’s narrow defeat to Liverpool High School last year, C-NS students are encouraging participation in Paige's Pajamarama WEEK!

Paige’s Pajamarama is a charity event allowing students to wear their (school appropriate) pajamas when making a donation to Paige's Butterfly Run, Inc., an organization which supports children with pediatric cancer at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.  While Pajamarama is usually a day-long event, this year the cozy competition will last more than a week.

In 2019, C-NS students challenged Liverpool High School students to raise more money for Paige’s Pajamarama by creating a challenge video, which went viral. While the 2019 challenge was initially only for the high schools, involvement grew and the event expanded to all schools in both districts. In the end, the schools and districts split victories with Liverpool High School earning the most money for the cause but the North Syracuse Central School District raising the greatest amount overall.

This year the North Syracuse and Liverpool school districts have reached out to the West Genesee and Fayetteville-Manlius districts to partner in the competition. North Syracuse and West Genesee are teaming up and Liverpool and Fayetteville-Manlius are pajama partners. Click here to watch this year’s challenge video, which was again created by Jacob Lax, a very talented C-NS graduate.

In the North Syracuse Central School District, Pajamarama Week will take place from November 9 through 13. Participating NSCSD schools include KWS Bear Road Elementary School, Roxboro Road Elementary School, Roxboro Road Middle School, Gillette Road Middle School, North Syracuse Junior High School and Cicero-North Syracuse High School. In-person students can donate at their school any day of the week. Donations are also being taken by Paige's Butterfly Run online through PayPal  or through Venmo to Paige's Corporate account at Paige's Butterfly Run, Inc. In the comments, please put which building you are donating for (or from) so it counts toward the competition. Every donation counts-Donations to Paige's go directly to Golisano hospital for kids battling pediatric cancer.

C-NS senior Giorgio Rawda, who helped put together this year’s video, is looking forward to the outcome of the friendly competition. He said, “Supporting current and future pediatric cancer patients in Central NY is extremely meaningful, and turning it into a competition with other schools and districts provides a fun way to increase support for these kids. Although we may be clashing against each other in this challenge, we are essentially fighting in the battle against pediatric cancer, together. I am very excited to see how much money we will be able to raise by working together!"
