Fall is Here!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s hard to believe that we are transitioning into another season. The nights are getting crisp and the leaves are beginning to change colors. We’ve had a great start to the new school year and teachers and students are now settling into the school “rhythm”. The hallways are beginning to fill with student work and the school is buzzing with the sounds of a positive learning environment.
We have several HSO events coming up so please be sure to add these dates to your calendars. It was great to see so many families attend our second annual Back to School BBQ on September 9th. We dedicated our new pavilion to our beloved head custodian, Chris Galuppi, who passed away last year. Families and students also had a chance to socialize with each other and staff members. Our Open Houses were a huge success this year! I received some great feedback from parents and staff regarding the changes to our open house format. Students attended activities in our large group areas and parents had the opportunity to meet teachers and have group discussions with fewer distractions.
October is an excellent time to review positive study habits with your child. Please be sure to go through your child’s backpack every day and discuss the day’s events. This helps keep you informed about what is going on in school. I have found, with my own children, that the best time for homework is when they return home from the school day. By reinforcing this daily schedule, you will help build skills that will carry on through school and beyond. Also, please don’t forget about the benefits of healthy snacks.
With the weather beginning to change, now is a good time to remind everyone to please dress their children for the appropriate weather conditions. Most classrooms take students outside for recess and students need to have appropriate clothing in order to enjoy the outdoors. I wish everyone a fantastic autumn season and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the main office at 218-2800.
