The North Syracuse Central School District has been working toward the implementation of Mygradebook.com, an electronic grade management system, in grades five through twelve. Several teachers piloted the grade management system during the 2009-2010 school year. The implementation of this electronic grade management system provides a unique opportunity to enhance communication and the connection between the school and home. During the 2010-2011 school year some teachers will pilot the parent access feature of Mygradebook.com. If your student’s teacher is participating in this pilot, you will receive a letter with information on how to access Mygradebook.com.
Mygradebook.com ushers in an era where teachers, students, and parents can easily collaborate, with improved student achievement as the ultimate goal. With opportunity also comes responsibility. Outlined below are guidelines for usage of mygradebook.com:
Protocol for using mygradebook.com
- Grades from assignments and tests may not be immediately available at Mygradebook.com. The process of providing timely feedback on student work is essential to academic growth and success in school. Teachers will take the time necessary to accurately assess student work before grades are entered into the grade management system. The time needed will vary depending on the subject area and the type of assessment: e.g.: multiple choice quiz, essay assessment, etc.
- If a parent/student has a question about a grade, they should contact (phone call or e-mail) the teacher involved.
- Confidentiality is critical. For obvious security reasons, do not share your password with anyone. If you have a problem with your password, see your classroom teacher.
- Please remember that the quantity and weight of assignments and tests recorded on the mygradebook.com system will vary depending on subject area and teacher.
The Mygradebook.com grade management system is just one communication tool between school and home. Whether it is Mygradebook.com, a phone call, an e-mail, or a face-to-face meeting, the North Syracuse Central School District invites and encourages parents and students to become actively involved in the teaching/learning process.
