Congratulations to Sabreen Mere, a senior at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, for recently being recognized by New York State Senator John DeFrancisco and the New York Senate in their Youth Leadership Recognition Awards Program. 2012 is the first year that the New York State Senate held the Youth Leadership Recognition program, which recognizes “future leaders,” who are “well-rounded candidates who excel not only academically, but through leadership in extracurricular and volunteer activities.”
Sabreen, a 17 year old from North Syracuse, was nominated for the Youth Leadership Recognition program by her school counselor, Michelle Scarcella, who says, “Sabreen is a strong, confident, and independent person who is passionate about what she believes in. She has the unique quality of voicing her opinions without alienating those who may disagree. She is able to get people’s attention and make them look at situations in a different way. She is a leader and role model to her peers. She will make a positive impact on those around her for years to come.” Sabreen Mere (center) is pictured with school counselor Michelle Scarcella (left) and C-NS Executive Principal Melissa Julian.
