Dear Parent or Guardian:
The safety and welfare of our students and staff is our highest priority at North Syracuse Junior High. We practice safety drills throughout the year to help our students and staff know what to do in an emergency. The New York State Department of Education has recently changed the guidelines regarding the number of emergency response drills within our schools.
The Junior High is working closely with district personnel, our School Resource Officer and building staff to correctly implement these procedures. The goals of these drills are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries. These practice drills allow us to evaluate our emergency operation plans and improve our response skills. As a precaution, the Junior High will conduct a minimum of four (4) periodic drills of this nature throughout the school year to ensure the safety of our students and staff members. Please be sure to discuss with your student(s) the importance of these drills and their cooperation with building staff when they occur.
