C-NS Performance Engineering Team gearing up for Shell Eco-Marathon

The Performance Engineering Team at Cicero-North Syracuse High School is a group of ambitious, hard-working students who meet every day after school and work together to build energy-efficient vehicles. This year, the team is designing and constructing a custom-made hydrogen fuel-cell car to compete in the Shell Eco-Marathon in Sonoma, California in April.

The Shell Eco-Marathon is an annual, international competition where students of all ages are challenged to design and drive their own ultra-energy-efficient vehicle the farthest on one liter of fuel. Teams are judged on vehicle design and safety features as well as how well participants work together.

In order for the Cicero-North Syracuse High School team to travel to California and compete, they need to raise funds to cover additional car modifications (parts and tools) and travel expenses and they are asking for the community's support.

The students have put in countless hours, including on weekends and school breaks, to reach their goal of participating in this prestigious event. Most team members are planning to pursue college degrees in STEM fields and know the experience will be invaluable as they enter college with real life engineering experience.

The Shell Eco-Marathon events are covered extensively by the news media and supporting companies will have the opportunity to display their logos during the race trials and race. Community organizations or individuals that would like to donate to this worthy cause, are asked to contact Mr. Martin Miner, Technology Teacher (mminer@nscsd.org).

Donations (money or materials) of any size are greatly appreciated. Please click here to download a sponsor sheet or click here to download the sponsorship letter and donation sheet.
