Michael J. Bragman Stadium
- Replacement of turf field.
- Resurfacing of the running track.
- Repair of turf field drainage issues.
Benefit: Turf Field Replacement. The turf field was installed in the Fall of 1999, as part of Phase 1 of the C-NS High School/Athletic Stadium Capital Project.
The original life expectancy of the field was 8 years to include the warranty, the field consisted of Astroturf 2000, installed over an elastic layer (E layer) with a 3/8" polyurethane shock pad.
Concerns with this type of field are typically ultraviolet degradation of the carpet fiber and a decrease in resilience (becomes harder) as it ages.
Maintenance costs – although the District has done an exceptional job of maintaining and prolonging the life expectancy of the field through constant monitoring and maintenance. The yearly cost for the upkeep of the field has gone from $12,000 in the first 6 years to over $50,000 this past fiscal year.
