Superintendent
A Message to the District by Kim Dyce Faucette, Superintendent of Schools In 1996, the First Lady of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton, published a book entitled, “It Takes a Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us,” presenting her vision for children in America. The book (whose title has been attributed to the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”) focuses on the impact individuals and groups outside the family have, positively or negatively, on a child’s well-being and success in life. Clinton discusses the tremendous responsibility of parents managing career, family and households and refers to it as a learning experience assisted by family, teachers, clergy, business people and community leaders. I think about Clinton’s book and contemplate the various roles I am taking on in this wonderful place you call home that is very new to me. I know that you have entrusted me, as the Superintendent of Schools for the North Syracuse Central School District, to assist you in raising your children. I assure you that I take this responsibility with the utmost regard and thoughtfulness.
As you browse our website, please consider becoming involved with our school community through the many the opportunities available, such as Board of Education meetings, school events and activities, public listening sessions and our advisory councils and committees.
Having spent a large part of my life as a teacher and an educator, I have experienced both the challenges and rewards that come with these responsibilities. I am looking forward to working with our students, teachers, parents, staff and the community of the North Syracuse Central School District to conquer the challenges we are facing and to allow our children to reap the potential rewards of our collective efforts.
I wish you, our students and staff a very successful school year and hope to see you at our events!
